Ashtabula, Ohio – Civic Development Corporation of Ashtabula County (CDC) recently announced a leadership transition on their board of directors. This change is an expected reflection of CDC’s five-year campaign cycle. Campaign 2020: Shared Vision- A Community Blueprint concluded in March 2021 and successfully fundraised $1.7 Million for 15 quality of life projects throughout Ashtabula County. 

 Dr. Lori Herpen , DPM of Dr. DeCato and Associates, assumes the role of CDC President after most recently serving as Vice President during the recently completed campaign.  Herpen was elected in 1998 to the CDC Board and served as Chair of the 2005 Campaign. “Lori is a natural leader,” said CDC Executive Director Amanda Tirotta. “She is knowledgeable in CDC history and past campaigns; she has a desire to always look for creative avenues to connect CDC throughout the community. The staff and board are excited for Lori’s new role and looking forward to working with her.”

Jeremy Powers, Technology Manager Coatings- America of Chromaflo Technologies, will fulfill the role as CDC Vice President. Powers joined the CDC board in 2016. Tirotta said, “Jerry is a great addition to the executive team. His strong analytical skills, worldly approaches to problem solving and innate ability to manage projects are crucial to the success of our organization.  The leadership changes will continue to provide the organization with strong leadership and direction throughout the next five years.”

Stephen Varckette, Andover Bank President, served as President of CDC throughout the planning and execution of Campaign 2020. Varckette was elected to the Board of Directors in 2014 and served as CDC Board President from 2016 through 2020. He will remain a valued board member. Amanda Tirotta, CDC Executive Director said. “Steve was an outstanding President. His genuine authenticity and ability to connect with community members and leaders made him invaluable to the success of our 2020 Campaign and we are grateful he will continue as a board member.”

In celebration of the success of Campaign 2020 and in conjunction with Civic Development Corporation’s 62nd Annual Meeting, a virtual meeting will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 4 pm.
