Civic Development Corporation of Ashtabula County’s 14th capital campaign is an ambitious initiative that aims to support vibrant, transformative projects that will enrich the lives of families, children, and the broader community while celebrating the spirit of Ashtabula County.
Campaign 2025 is designed to address four key areas: enhancing recreational opportunities, supporting arts and culture, and fostering a strong sense of community. All while embracing the things that make Ashtabula County special.
The funds raise will be directed towards the following impactful projects:
Inclusive Destination Playground, Village of Jefferson
The centerpiece of Campaign 2025 is the development of an inclusive destination playground at the former Memorial Field. This state-of-the-art facility will feature innovative and accessible equipment and playhouses that reflect Ashtabula County’s agricultural roots, industrial history and lake lifestyle. The playground will provide a safe and engaging environment for both local families and visitors.
Additional Classroom Space, Ashtabula Arts Center
An expansion and renovation of the Arts Center will enhance its capacity to support artistic creativity, education and presentation. New flexible classrooms and rehearsal spaces will enable the center to broaden its programming. Exterior improvements, including new siding, will preserve the building’s unique artistic design while reducing maintenance.
Lakefront Infrastructure for Development, Conneaut Port Authority
This project will advance Lakefront development by constructing needed infrastructure to support the Conneaut Marina. The addition of a gravity-fed sanitary system will facilitate the expansion of the marina by adding 40 new slips for larger vessels.
Lakeside Pickleball Courts, Conneaut Township Park
To meet the growing popularity of pickleball, the park will add four new courts. Recognized as one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., pickleball appeals to all ages and fitness levels, promoting health and wellness through enjoyable activity.
Carraher Field Complex Facility Improvements, Geneva Little League
Restoration of the Carraher Field Complex will address years of wear and tear through new drainage, outfield dirt and essential preparatory work. These improvements will provide a better environment for practices, games and tournaments.
Community Oriented Outdoors Learning Lab, Ashtabula Area City Schools
This project will create an outdoor natural classroom behind Erie Elementary School, offering a unique learning environment for students and the public with safety protocols in place. The new facility will include a fence, sidewalk, access path, and pavilion, enhancing educational opportunities in environmental science.
.
Family Exercise and Entertainment Enhancements, Ashtabula County YMCA
Enhancements at the YMCA will include new indoor cycling bikes, “big kids” tricycles, wagons, a mini arcade basketball game and a flexi projector. These additions will improve family engagement and interactive learning opportunities
Ashtabula Community Pocket Park, Park Place Non-Profit Center, Co.
Downtown Ashtabula’s redevelopment will include streetscape and façade improvements and a new pocket park at 4611-4617 Main Avenue. The park will feature amenities like family-focused programming, shade sails, picnic tables and a space for local food trucks.
