Orwell
1985
Country Neighbor Program ($78,000)
– purchased and renovated new agency headquarters in Orwell.
1995
Communication Station ($44,100)
– used to build a community center in Rome for constructive youth programming and activities.
Country Neighbor Program ($9,300)
– purchased the agency’s first computers used for budget preparation, accounting, and bookkeeping.
2000
Conversation Station ($13,650)
– completion of the outdoor areas, including the paving of basketball court and driveway
2005
Western Reserve Greenway Trail ($150,000)
– Seven miles of the trail were paved from Callender Road in Rome to Hague Road in Orwell Township.
Camp Whitewood Northeast Ohio ($40,000)
– Funds to provide improvements in the waste-water treatment system in order to comply with EPA requirements for discharge into Phelps Creek and the Grand River.
Country Neighbor Program ($150,000)
– Funds to support major remodeling and expansion of existing facility in Orwell, creating usable office and program space.
2010
Nature Conservancy Property Trails (Morgan Swamp Preserve) ($44,350) –-In conjunction with Nature Conservancy and Cleveland Museum of Natural History helped fund property trails showcasing biodiversity around the swamp preserve and Grand River.
2015
Orwell Joint Recreational Park ($50,000)
– Matched funds to improve access to multi-sports complex. Completed paving project to cut back on dust and enhance park.
2020
Grand River Conservation Campus, Nature Conservancy ($100,000)
– Infrastructure upgrades including Parking and driveway improvements near the Bissell Nature Center and canoe launch. Expanded gymnasium parking, including reshaping ditches and adding culverts to address water flow. Installed concrete ADA accessible pathway from Nature Center to the pavilion.
