Your investment in Campaign 2020 will allow Civic Development Corporation to continue to provide Ashtabula County with projects that enhance our public spaces and provide Ashtabula County families and visitors a wide variety of recreational and educational opportunities. The following projects will benefit from your donation.

Jack Overly Recreation Park, Village of Andover

The park board is requesting funding to renovate and improve the restrooms at the park to make them handicap accessible. The recreation park features the largest playground in the area and is home to the Andover Little League.

Refurbishment of GB Theater, Ashtabula Arts Center

The AAC project submission includes updates and renovations to the indoor theater. These upgrades include new drapes for the stage, new theater seating to include handicap accessibility, new carpeting, and LED aisle lighting.

Addition to Maintenance Building, Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club

The club needs additional space in the maintenance building. The space gained by this building project will be used to support the preservation of equipment acquired and owned by the club.

Pymatuning Valley Greenway Trail Phase 1.1, Ashtabula County Metroparks

The park system is requesting funding to help leverage $1.625M in state and federal grant funds to plan and complete the 3.51 miles of the Pymatuning Valley Greenway Trail. The funds will be used for engineering and design services as well as construction costs to complete this portion of the trail. The development of the trail will ultimately provide an off-road connection from the Western Reserve Greenway Trail and central Ashtabula County with Pymatuning Lake and rural southeastern Ashtabula County and western Pennsylvania.

New Transportation Vehicle, Ashtabula County YMCA

The YMCA is in need of a vehicle to pull various trailered equipment such as kayaks and canoes. The Y recently began offering outreach programs at various locations throughout the county which require transportation of equipment to these locations.

Ashtabula Township Park Commission

The park commission is requesting assistance to help complete the renovation and restoration of the Lake Shore Park’s historic waterfowl upper pond. The project involves dredging the pond, constructing a concrete retaining wall and bridge piers, placement of pre-fabricated bridge from both sides with observation platform, and a concrete walkway for public access and use.

1 Welton Road Improvements, City of Conneaut

The City of Conneaut is looking to improve the look and image of city property as visitors enter the gateway to their community. With this request they are seeking funding to enhance the property at 1 Welton Road. Funds would be used to wrap the existing building on the property and add wayfinding signage to direct visitors to the area.

Kilpi Hall Capital Improvements Project, Conneaut Arts Center

The center submitted a request for funds to waterproof portions of the building’s basement and replace sidewalks around the facility. This is Phase 1 of a plan to add additional classroom and studio space in the basement to increase learning opportunities to the community and generate additional income for the arts center.

New Bathhouse/Concession Building, Conneaut Township Park Commission

The park commission is requesting partial funds to build a new 4,000 ft. bathhouse and concession building with adjacent parking to accommodate 80 parking spaces. The park attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country, but primarily from northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. The park supports the growing Conneaut Harbor area and also hosts the local D-Day event.

Transportation Trailer, D-Day Ohio, Inc.

The group is requesting funds for a trailer to transport the historic Higgins boat. Currently the group must rent equipment when they move the boats. The D-Day event attracts more than 40,000 spectators to the area.

New Pavilion and Restrooms, Geneva Township Park Commission

The commission submitted a project to build a pavilion with restrooms on the West end of Township Park to accommodate the number of requests received for hosting events such as reunions, birthday parties, and weddings. The park also gets utilized by visitors to GOTL during the summer season.

New Pavilion Project, Lift Bridge Community Association

LCBA is requesting funding to create a community gathering space in the form of a permanent pavilion/portico along the river for use by community groups to provide music, movies, and other forms of entertainment for families to enjoy. The group continues to make significant improvements to the Harbor area as witnessed by winning the America’s Main Streets contest in 2018.

Infrastructure Improvements at Grand River Conservation Campus, The Nature Conservancy

A request has been submitted for funding to widen the current access road and improve parking to adequately and safely allow for bus traffic. The current road is very narrow and makes it difficult for traffic to smoothly flow in and out of the campus.

Recreation Park Upgrades, Village of Geneva-on-the-Lake

The village is requesting funds for upgrades to the existing Recreation Park and assistance in developing a Recreation Park Master Plan. The project serves as an initial planning phase and continues current buildout of an existing children’s play area. The master plan will serve as a guide for future projects to include an outdoor city center, splash park, dog park, and trails.

Pierpont Conservation-Arboretum Green Space, Pierpont Revitalization and Development Committee

The Pierpont Green Space and Arboretum promises to be a flurry of activity focused on ongoing restoration, recreation and education. A parking area will be established. Also plans include a boulder area for climbing and imaginative play along with Colonial Gardens with medicinal plants with connecting easily accessible paths, and benches under shade trees to view the Conservation-Arboretum.
